Plain terms for a simple app.

By installing or using Mella Check, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please uninstall the app.
1. What the app does
Mella Check displays Telebirr payment messages that your phone has already received, so you can find and review them quickly. It does not hold, send or receive money, and it is not a bank, wallet or payment service.
2. Not a verification service
An SMS is not proof of payment. Mella Check shows what is in your inbox. SMS messages can be delayed, missing or forged, and the app can misread a message whose wording it doesn’t recognise. Before handing over goods, especially for large amounts, check the sender, reference, amount and time, and confirm in your Telebirr account where needed.
You are responsible for the decisions you make using the app. Mella Check is not responsible for losses caused by fraudulent, delayed, missing or misread messages.
3. Independence
Mella Check is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Ethio telecom. Telebirr is a trademark of Ethio telecom and is used here only to describe the messages the app reads.
4. Acceptable use
- Use the app only on phones you own or are authorised to use, and only to read messages you are entitled to read.
- Don’t reverse engineer, resell or modify the app, or use it to break the law.
- Don’t interfere with the ads in the app, including by clicking them deliberately or automatically.
5. Ads and third-party services
The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads and Google services are governed by their own terms. How data is handled is explained in the privacy policy.
6. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or able to read every message format.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Mella Check is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits, goods or money, arising from use of the app.
8. Changes and termination
We may update the app or these terms. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the new terms. You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
