The problem

“I paid.” Then the scrolling starts: through bank alerts, airtime offers and old receipts, squinting at amounts while the queue grows. Mella Check puts the payment in front of you in a second.

What it does

Chapter 01 — Latest payment

The newest payment, front and centre.

Open the app and the last Telebirr receipt is the first thing you see: amount, payer and how long ago it arrived.

Chapter 02 — Search

Search like a cashier.

Type a name, # and the last phone digits, or an amount. Combine them, “abebe, 300”. Amharic names find their English spelling.

Chapter 03 — Receipt

Every detail, plus the original SMS.

Tap a payment for the amount, payer, time, SIM and reference, with the full message underneath and a reference you can copy.

Chapter 04 — Notifications

Told the moment it lands.

A notification arrives as soon as a receipt does, so you know before the customer has put their phone away.

The honest answers.

Is Mella Check a bank or wallet?

No. It doesn’t hold or move money and has no account. It only shows the Telebirr payment messages your phone has already received.

Does my SMS leave my phone?

Never. Messages are read and sorted on the phone itself. There is no Mella Check server, and no message text, names, phone numbers or amounts are sent anywhere.

Can a fake SMS fool it?

Mella Check only marks receipts from Telebirr’s sender (127) as payments, but a message is not bank verification. For large amounts, match the reference and time, or check your Telebirr balance.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Reading and searching messages works with no internet. The connection is only used for ads, crash reports and app updates.

Which messages does it understand?

English Telebirr receipt messages today. Other Telebirr messages stay visible under “All SMS” so you can review them yourself.
